1 Institutional insight
June 10, 2022

The central theme chosen for this seminar organized by the chair in Switzerland is the one of decarbonization of transport and the supply chain, emphasizing on the systems (existing or to be defined) in terms of measuring the entire environmental impact in the supply chain:

The course of this seminar in Switzerland, in Lausanne and Geneva, has allowed us to review certain practices and initiatives developed in Switzerland in terms of environmental policy and decarbonization in transport and supply chain (especially in the retail sector with 2 reference Swiss cooperatives).

Therefore the program of meetings made it possible to approach the subject of decarbonization in different perspectives :

  • “Field” insight into the Swiss context in terms of decarbonization policy, with institutional meetings with the Federal Environmental Office of Switzerland and with the state of Geneva.
  • An academic insight from EPFL on the campus sustainability policy.
  • Presentations of reference projects for the decarbonization of urban logistics, such as the Cargo ST project (carbon-free freight or underground goods tunnels).
  • Meetings in the sectors of transports, retail/distribution, automotive engineering, with sharing of feedback from 5 swiss companies on the general subject of the seminar :
    –    Galliker Green Logistics (Lausanne)
    –    Coop Cooperative (Lausanne)
    –    Migros cooperative (Geneva)
    –    Green GT, actor in the research and development of high-power electric-hydrogen propulsion solutions (Geneva)
    –    GoH, Generation of Hydrogen project (Geneva).
  • Sharing of feedback on the system of measuring global environmental impact in the supply chain between the 4 partners.
