1 external industrial lighting (Legrand Group)
1 deliverable (differentiated SC analysis matrix)
1 immersion in the conversion of the Michelin Cataroux industrial site
October 03, 2024

The last seminar of 2024 focused on the subject of differentiation in supply chain models, with a rich and collaborative program led by Michelin's supply chain teams.

On October 3 and 4, 2024, 35 participants from the Chair's 5 partner companies met in Clermont-Ferrand to explore the opportunities offered by supply chain differentiation. At the end of various group work sessions, they pooled their practices and lessons learned through an analysis matrix based on the key processes of a differentiated supply chain.

Seminar highlights

  • Enriching contributions: In addition to sharing the experience of the 5 Chair partners, the Legrand Group provided an external perspective, sharing the differentiation approaches practiced by their supply chain teams, as well as the associated challenges.
  • A concrete deliverable: The co-construction of a differentiated supply chain analysis matrix, a valuable tool for companies wishing to structure their approach.
  • An exclusive immersion: A visit to Michelin's Cataroux site provided an opportunity to discover a concrete example of the revitalization of a historic industrial site.

Key learnings

  • Segmentation at the heart of differentiation:A differentiated supply chain is based on clear segmentation. Without this, differences are often linked to product specificities or managed on a case-by-case basis.
  • Pressure and opportunities: Strategic choices depend on two factors: pressure on costs and pressure on availability, opening up opportunities for value creation.

A collective dynamic

The seminar provided an opportunity to discuss and exchange ideas on how to build customized logistics chains that strike a balance between operational constraints and specific market needs.

This meeting marked a key step towards better understanding the challenges of differentiation and paving the way for more agile, high-performance supply chains.
